The Red horse chestnut 'Briotii' (Aesculus carnea) is a broad, roundish tree that produces blood-red flowers. They appear in mid-May. The Red horse chestnut 'Briotii' also has palmate, dark green leaves. In a sunny to semi-shady location with well-drained, calcareous, nutrient-rich, loamy soil, it usually reaches a height of around 15 metres and grows to a width of around 12 metres.

The deciduous leaves of the Red horse chestnut 'Briotii' are dark green, palmate and opposite. They are about 8 - 15 cm in size. Red horse chestnut 'Briotii' turns a bright golden yellow in autumn.
