The Red horse chestnut (Aesculus carnea) is a broad, roundish garden plant that produces pink or red flowers. They appear from April to May. In a sunny to semi-shady location with well-drained, calcareous, nutrient-rich, loamy soil, it usually reaches a height of around 20 metres and grows to a width of around 12 metres.
