We'd be happy to explain the common abbreviations and terms so you know exactly what you're getting!

When we talk about tree sizes, we often use the following abbreviations:

- StU (Stammumfang, Trunk Circumference): This is the circumference of the tree trunk measured 1 meter (approximately 3.3 feet) above the ground. It's given in centimeters (cm) and gives you a good idea of the trunk's thickness.

- H (Höhe, Height): This is the total height of the tree, measured from the top of the root ball to the tip of the tree. It's given in meters (m).

The "root ball" (Ballen) refers to the mass of soil that surrounds the tree's roots when it's dug out of the ground. The size of the root ball is crucial for the tree's successful establishment and varies depending on the tree's size. A larger tree needs a larger root ball to ensure enough root mass for healthy growth. The exact size of the root ball is usually specified in meters (m), either by its diameter or height, and can vary depending on the tree species and its growth habit.

For detailed information on different tree sizes and root ball dimensions, we recommend taking a look at our List of abbreviations. There, you'll find tables and further explanations to help you choose the right tree.
