The Paper birch (Betula papyrifera) is a pyramidal tree that produces pale yellow flowers arranged in catkins. They appear in April. These produce light brown fruits. The Paper birch also has egg-shaped, medium green leaves. Its bark is white and flaking. In a sunny location with well-drained, humus-rich, nutrient-rich, sandy, acidic, loamy soil, it usually reaches a height of approx. 20 m and is approx. 15 m wide.

Leaves

The deciduous leaves of the Paper birch are medium green, ovate, alternate. They are about 5 - 10 cm in size. Paper birch turns bright yellow in autumn.

Flower

The light yellow flowers of Paper birch appear in catkins in April.

Betula papyrifera is a shallow-rooted plant and, depending on the soil, forms densely branched roots.
