Juniperus squamata 'Blue Star'

Flaky juniper 'Blue Star' is a broad, creeping and cushion-forming small shrub. It usually reaches a height of 0.5 - 1 m and is approx. 1 - 1.5 m wide. Slow growing. Usually grows 2 - 3 cm per year.

The Flaky juniper 'Blue Star' is evergreen. Its needles are silver-blue, prickly, scale-like.

The blue cones of Juniperus squamata 'Blue Star' are particularly decorative. These appear from August.

Juniperus squamata 'Blue Star' is a shallow-rooting plant.

Preferred location in a sunny to semi-shady, wind-protected position.

The Flaky juniper 'Blue Star' has good frost hardiness.

Normal soil.

Solitary, grave, heather garden, rock garden, topiary, small/front garden

The plant has a medium water requirement.

This plant is susceptible to snow pressure. In snowy areas, it is therefore advisable to wrap the branches with string. Otherwise, they may split apart and not fully recover. When the snow season is over, the strings must of course be removed again.

Container plants can be planted all year round, except when the soil is frozen and in summer heat (over 30°C).
