Juniperus squamata 'Blue Carpet'

Flaky juniper 'Blue Carpet' is a creeping dwarf shrub. It usually reaches a height of 30 - 50 cm and is approx. 1.5 - 3 m wide. Slow growing. It usually grows 2 - 3 cm per year.

The Flaky juniper 'Blue Carpet' is evergreen. Its needles are blue-grey.

The blue cones of Juniperus squamata 'Blue Carpet' are particularly decorative. These appear from August.

Juniperus squamata 'Blue Carpet' is a shallow-rooting plant.

Preferred location in a sunny to semi-shady, wind-protected position.

The plant has a medium water requirement.

This plant is susceptible to snow pressure. In snowy areas, it is therefore advisable to wrap the branches with string. Otherwise, they may split apart and not fully recover. When the snow season is over, the strings must of course be removed again.

Pruning, ideally from February to April, is advisable for this plant.

Container plants can be planted all year round, except when the soil is frozen and in summer heat (over 30°C).
