The Cotoneaster (Cotoneaster praecox) is a creeping small shrub with decorative, red, round fruits. These are large. It produces pink-coloured flowers this May. The Cotoneaster also has shiny, egg-shaped, dark green leaves. In a sunny location with well-drained, nutrient-rich, sandy, loamy soil, it usually reaches a height of approx. 80 cm and is approx. 1.5 m wide.

Cotoneaster is a creeping small shrub. It usually reaches a height of 60 - 80 cm and is approx. 1 - 1.5 m wide.

The shoots of Cotoneaster praecox are spiny.

The deciduous leaves of the Cotoneaster are dark green, ovate, glossy, alternate, wavy. They are about 1 - 2.5 cm in size. Cotoneaster turns a bright scarlet red in autumn.

Flower

The pink-coloured flowers appear in May.

Fruit

The red, round fruits of Cotoneaster praecox are particularly decorative. These appear from August and are large.

Root

Cotoneaster praecox is a shallow-rooting plant and, depending on the soil, forms sparsely branched roots.
