The Hollyberry cotoneaster (Cotoneaster bullatus) is a spreading, broad, picturesque shrub with decorative, red, round fruits that stay on for a very long time. It produces white-red flowers arranged in panicles from May to June. The Hollyberry cotoneaster also has leathery, lanceolate, dark green leaves. In a sunny to semi-shady location, it usually reaches a height of around 3 metres and grows to a width of around 4 metres. The Hollyberry cotoneaster makes no particular demands on the soil.

Growth

Hollyberry cotoneaster is a spreading, wide-growing, picturesque shrub. It usually reaches a height of 2 - 3 m and is approx. 2 - 4 m wide.

The deciduous leaves of the Hollyberry cotoneaster are dark green, lanceolate, leathery and alternate. They are about 3 - 7 cm in size. Hollyberry cotoneaster turns bright orange-red in autumn.

Flower

The white-red flowers of Hollyberry cotoneaster appear in panicles from May to June.

Fruit

The red, round fruits of Cotoneaster bullatus are particularly decorative. These appear from September. Cling for a very long time.

Root

Cotoneaster bullatus is a shallow-rooted or heart-rooted plant and, depending on the soil, forms sparsely branched roots.

Location

Preferred location in a sunny to semi-shady position.

The Hollyberry cotoneaster has good frost hardiness.
