The Honeysuckle (Lonicera tatarica) is a large, funnel-shaped shrub with decorative, red, round fruits. These exude a pleasant fragrance. It produces light pink, lip-shaped flowers from May to June. The Honeysuckle also has egg-shaped, blue-green leaves. In a sunny to semi-shady location, it usually reaches a height of around 4 metres and grows to around 4 metres wide. The Honeysuckle makes no particular demands on the soil.

Honeysuckle is a large, funnel-shaped shrub. It usually reaches a height of 3 - 4 m and is approx. 3 - 4 m wide. It usually grows 30 - 35 cm per year.

The deciduous leaves of the Honeysuckle are blue-green, ovate and opposite. They are about 4 - 6 cm in size.

Bark

Grey bark makes this plant an eye-catcher in any garden.

Flower

The light pink, lip-shaped flowers appear from May to June. They are pleasantly scented.

Fruit

The red, round fruits of Lonicera tatarica are particularly decorative. These appear from July.

Root

Lonicera tatarica is a heartroot.

Location

Preferred location in a sunny to semi-shady position.

The Honeysuckle has good frost hardiness.
