The Honeysuckle (Lonicera ledebourii) is an upright, loose shrub with decorative, black, round fruits. These exude a pleasant fragrance. It produces yellow, tubular flowers from May to July. The Honeysuckle also has hairy, egg-shaped, medium green leaves. In a sunny to shady location, it usually reaches a height of around 3 metres and grows to a width of around 2 metres. The Honeysuckle makes no particular demands on the soil.

Growth

Honeysuckle is an upright and loose-growing shrub. It usually reaches a height of 2 - 3 m and is approx. 1.5 - 2 m wide. It usually grows 30 - 35 cm per year.

The deciduous leaves of the Honeysuckle are medium green, ovate, hairy, opposite, with entire margins. They are about 6 - 12 cm tall.

Bark

Grey bark makes this plant an eye-catcher in any garden.

Flower

The yellow, tubular flowers appear from May to July. They are pleasantly scented.

Fruit

The black, round fruits of Lonicera ledebourii are particularly decorative. These appear from August.

Location

Preferred location in a sunny to shady position.

Frost hardiness

The Honeysuckle has good frost hardiness.
