The Box-leaved honeysuckle (Lonicera pileata) is a spreading, broad small shrub with decorative, purple-violet, round fruits. These exude a pleasant fragrance. It produces creamy white, tubular flowers from May to July. The Box-leaved honeysuckle also has shiny, lanceolate, dark green leaves. In a sunny to semi-shady, wind-protected location with well-drained, humus-rich soil, it usually reaches a height of approx. 80 cm and is approx. 2 m wide.

Box-leaved honeysuckle is a spreading and broadly growing small shrub. It usually reaches a height of 60 - 80 cm and is approx. 1.5 - 2 m wide. It usually grows 10 - 15 cm per year.

The evergreen leaves of the Box-leaved honeysuckle are dark green, lanceolate, glossy and opposite. They are about 1 - 3 cm in size.

Flower

The creamy white, tubular flowers appear from May to July. They are pleasantly scented.

Fruit

The purple-violet, round fruits of Lonicera pileata are particularly decorative. These appear from September.

Location

Preferred location in a sunny to semi-shady, wind-protected position.
