The Holly olive (Osmanthus heterophyllus) is an upright, rounded shrub that produces white flowers with a pleasant fragrance. They appear from September to October. These produce black, oval fruits. They exude a pleasant fragrance. The Holly olive also has shiny, egg-shaped, dark green leaves. In a semi-shady to shady, wind-protected location with well-drained, humus-rich soil, it usually reaches a height of around 4 metres and grows to a width of around 3 metres.

The evergreen leaves of the Holly olive are dark green, ovate, glossy, opposite and toothed. They are about 2 - 6 cm in size.

The white flowers appear from September to October. They are pleasantly scented.

Preferred location in semi-shady to shady, wind-protected position.
