The Poplar (Populus simonii) is an upright, vigorous small tree that produces yellow-green flowers arranged in catkins. They appear from March to April. These produce white fruits. The Poplar also has egg-shaped, medium-green leaves. Its bark is grey-green and longitudinally furrowed. In a sunny location with well-drained, calcareous soil, it usually reaches a height of approx. 16 m and is approx. 8 m wide.
