The Canadian poplar 'Robusta' also has shiny, heart-shaped, dark green leaves. The bronze-coloured shoots are also an interesting sight. Its bark is red-brown in colour. In a sunny to semi-shady location with well-drained, nutrient-rich, sandy, loamy, moist to wet soil, it usually reaches a height of around 35 metres and grows to a width of around 15 metres.
