The Stranvaesia (Photinia davidiana) is a bushy, sprawling, picturesque shrub with decorative, red, round fruits that stay on for a very long time. It produces white flowers arranged in umbels in June. The Stranvaesia also has leathery, lanceolate, dark green leaves. In a sunny to semi-shady, wind-protected location with well-drained, humus-rich, nutrient-rich soil, it usually reaches a height of around 3 metres and grows to around 3 metres wide.

Stranvaesia is a bushy, spreading, picturesque shrub. It usually reaches a height of 2 - 3 m and is approx. 1.5 - 3 m wide. It usually grows 30 - 50 cm per year.

The wintergreen leaves of the Stranvaesia are dark green, lanceolate, leathery, alternate, with entire margins. They are about 10 - 12 cm tall. Stranvaesia is bright scarlet red in autumn. Long lasting.

Flower

The white flowers of Stranvaesia appear in corymbs in June.

Fruit

The red, round fruits of Photinia davidiana are particularly decorative. These appear from September. Cling for a very long time.

Root

Photinia davidiana is a deep-rooting plant and, depending on the soil, forms densely branched roots.

Location

Preferred location in a sunny to semi-shady, wind-protected position.
