The Oriental photinia (Photinia villosa) is a bushy, broad, loose, large shrub with decorative, bright red, round fruits that stay on for a very long time. It produces white flowers arranged in corymbs from May to June. The Oriental photinia also has egg-shaped, dark green leaves. In a sunny to semi-shady location with well-drained, humus-rich, nutrient-rich soil, it usually reaches a height of around 5 metres and grows to a width of around 5 metres.

Oriental photinia is a bushy, broad and loose-growing large shrub. It usually reaches a height of 3 - 5 m and is approx. 3 - 5 m wide. It usually grows 20 - 30 cm per year.

The deciduous leaves of the Oriental photinia are dark green, ovate and alternate. They are about 5 - 8 cm in size. Oriental photinia turns bright orange-red in autumn.

Flower

The white flowers of the Oriental photinia appear in umbels from May to June.

Fruit

The bright red, round fruits of Photinia villosa are particularly decorative. These appear from September. Stays very long.

Photinia villosa is a deep-rooting or heart-rooting plant and, depending on the soil, forms extensive branching roots.
