Leucothoe walteri 'Rainbow'

Dog-hobble 'Rainbow' is a spreading and overhanging small shrub. It usually reaches a height of 0.8 - 1.2 m and is approx. 0.8 - 1.2 m wide. It usually grows 10 - 15 cm per year.

High leaf ornamental value. The evergreen leaves of the Dog-hobble 'Rainbow' are multi-coloured, lanceolate, glossy, alternate, serrated. They are about 5 - 15 cm in size. Pink-red shoots. With its red foliage, it sets beautiful accents in winter.

The creamy white, bell-shaped flowers of Dog-hobble 'Rainbow' appear in clusters from May to June. They grow to around 4 - 6 cm and are pleasantly fragrant.

Leucothoe walteri 'Rainbow' is a shallow-rooting plant and, depending on the soil, forms densely branched, runner-forming roots.

Preferred location in semi-shady to shady, wind-protected position.

The Dog-hobble 'Rainbow' has good frost hardiness.

Leucothoe walteri 'Rainbow' thrives on all acidic, humus-rich and sufficiently moist soils.

Solitary, group planting, bog bed, ground cover, undergrowth

The plant needs plenty of water. Do not allow the soil to dry out.

Container plants can be planted all year round, except when the soil is frozen and in summer heat (over 30°C).
