The Pride of India (Koelreuteria paniculata) is an upright, broad small tree with decorative, reddish-brown fruits that remain on the tree for a very long time. It produces yellow flowers arranged in panicles from July to August. The Pride of India also has pinnate, dark green leaves. The red shoots are also an interesting sight. In a sunny location, it usually reaches a height of around 8 metres and grows to a width of around 5 metres. The Pride of India makes no particular demands on the soil.

Growth

Pride of India is an upright and broad-growing small tree with a loose, translucent crown. It usually reaches a height of 6 - 8 m and is approx. 4 - 5 m wide. It usually grows 20 - 25 cm per year.

The deciduous leaves of the Pride of Indias are dark green, pinnate and serrated. They are about 20 - 25 cm tall. Red shoots. Pride of India turns bright yellow-orange in autumn.

Flower

The yellow flowers of Pride of India appear in panicles from July to August. These grow to around 15 - 30 cm tall.

Fruit

The red-brown fruits of Koelreuteria paniculata are particularly decorative. Adhere for a very long time.
