The Alaska Cedar 'Pendula' (Chamaecyparis nootkatensis) is a tree that grows upright, semi-hanging and usually reaches a height of around 15 metres and a width of around 4 metres. Its scale-like leaves are dark green in colour. This shrub is well tolerant of frost and prefers well-drained, nutrient-rich soil in a sunny to semi-shady position.

Growth

Alaska Cedar 'Pendula' is an upright and semi-hanging tree with a translucent crown. It usually reaches a height of 10 - 15 m and is approx. 3 - 4 m wide. As a rule, it grows 15 - 20 cm per year.

Leaves

The Alaska Cedar 'Pendula' is evergreen. Its needles are dark green, prickly and scaly.

Fruit

The brown cones of Chamaecyparis nootkatensis 'Pendula' are small and round.

Chamaecyparis nootkatensis 'Pendula' is a shallow-rooting plant.
