The Rye grass (Hystrix patula) is a decorative design element in the garden, which also stands out with its upright growth. The brown flower fronds adorn this grass from summer onwards. It feels most at home in a semi-shady to shady location with well-drained, humus-rich soil. In favourable conditions, this hardy grass reaches a height of approx. 90 cm and grows up to 40 cm wide.
