With its medium green leaf colouring, the Spangle grass (Chasmanthium latifolium) is a decorative design element in the garden, which also adorns containers on balconies or terraces with its upright growth. The light brown panicles of flowers adorn this grass from summer onwards. It feels most at home in a sunny to semi-shady location with a well-drained, humus-rich, loose soil. In favourable conditions, this hardy grass reaches a height of approx. 1 m and grows up to 60 cm wide.

The deciduous leaves of the Spangle grass are medium green, lanceolate.

Flower

The light brown flowers of Spangle grass appear in panicles from August to October. These grow to around 6 - 10 cm in size.

Location

Preferred location in a sunny to semi-shady position.

The Spangle grass has good frost hardiness.

Standard container plant soil.
Normal soil.

Use

Tub, solitary, rock garden, cottage garden, cutting

Water

Water regularly and allow the soil to dry out in the meantime.

Care

The plant must be protected from winter damp.
