Genista lydia

Syrian Arab Republic to the Balkans.

Lydian broom is an overhanging dwarf shrub. It usually reaches a height of 40 - 50 cm and is approx. 0.5 - 1 m wide. It usually grows 5 - 10 cm per year.

The deciduous leaves of the Lydian brooms are grey-green, lanceolate, alternate. They are about 2 cm in size.

The golden yellow flowers appear from May to June.

Genista lydia is a taproot and, depending on the soil, forms densely branched roots.

Preferred location in a sunny position.

The Lydian broom has good frost hardiness.

Normal soil.

Heather garden, rock garden, bee pasture

Plant or parts of the plant are poisonous.

The plant has a medium water requirement.

- Excess water must be able to drain away easily and waterlogging should be avoided at all costs.
- Cut back vigorously after flowering.

Container plants can be planted all year round, except when the soil is frozen and in summer heat (over 30°C).
