The St John's wort 'Gemo' (Hypericum kalmianum) is a bushy, broad small shrub with decorative, red-brown, oval fruits. It produces yellow, bowl-shaped flowers from July to September. The St John's wort 'Gemo' also has lanceolate, blue-green leaves. The light green shoots are also an interesting sight. In a sunny location with well-drained, sandy, loamy soil, it usually reaches a height of around 1 metre and grows to a width of around 1.5 metres.

Growth

St John's wort 'Gemo' is a bushy and broad-growing small shrub. It usually reaches a height of 0.6 - 1 m and is approx. 1 - 1.5 m wide. Slow-growing.

The deciduous leaves of the St John's wort 'Gemo's are blue-green, lanceolate, opposite. They are about 4 - 7 cm in size. Light green shoots. St John's wort 'Gemo' turns bright green in autumn.

Flower

The yellow, cupped flowers appear from July to September.

The red-brown, oval fruits of Hypericum kalmianum 'Gemo' are particularly decorative.
