The Lawson cypress 'Golden Wonder' (Chamaecyparis lawsoniana) is a small tree that grows densely in a conical shape and usually reaches a height of around 6 metres and a width of around 3 metres. Its scale-like leaves are dark green or golden yellow in colour. They turn a beautiful lemon yellow colour in winter. This shrub tolerates frost well. It prefers well-drained, nutrient-rich soil in a sunny to semi-shady, wind-protected position.

Growth

Conical, tight. The Chamaecyparis lawsoniana 'Golden Wonder' is a slow growing plant.

Care

This plant is vulnerable to snow pressure. In snowy areas it is therefore advisable to wrap the branches with a cord. Otherwise, they can unfold and possibly not fully recover. Of course, when the snow season is over, the cords have to be removed again.

Container plants can be planted all year round, except during frost or summer heat (over 30°C).
