With its grey-green leaf colouring, the Pampas grass (Cortaderia selloana) is a decorative design element in the garden, which also stands out with its spreading growth. The white flower panicles adorn this grass from autumn onwards. It feels most at home in a sunny location with a well-drained, humus-rich, nutrient-rich soil. In favourable conditions, this hardy grass reaches a height of approx. 1.5 m and grows up to 1.5 m wide.

Water regularly and allow the soil to dry out in the meantime.

Care

- The plant must be protected from winter moisture.
- This plant should not be cut back in autumn, as it looks pretty in winter, or the dead plant parts serve as winter protection. Only prune in spring before new shoots appear.
- A slow-release fertiliser can be used in spring. This releases the nutrients slowly and continuously so that the plant is evenly supplied over a longer period of time.
