The Mezereon 'Rubra Select' (Daphne mezereum) is an upright small shrub with decorative, red fruits. These exude a strong fragrance. It produces carmine-red flowers from March to April. The Mezereon 'Rubra Select' also has lanceolate, medium green leaves. In a semi-shady, wind-protected location with calcareous, loamy soil, it usually reaches a height of around 1.5 metres and is around 1.5 metres wide.

Growth

Mezereon 'Rubra Select' is an upright growing small shrub. It usually reaches a height of 1 - 1.5 m and is approx. 0.8 - 1.5 m wide.

The deciduous leaves of the Mezereon 'Rubra Select's are medium green, lanceolate, alternate. They are about 6 - 8 cm tall.

Flower

The carmine-red flowers appear from March to April. They are strongly scented.

Fruit

The red drupes of Daphne mezereum 'Rubra Select' are particularly decorative. These appear from June.

Daphne mezereum 'Rubra Select' is a deep-rooting plant and, depending on the soil, forms sparsely branched roots.
