The Southern nettle tree (Celtis australis) is a spreading tree that produces light green flowers. They appear in May. These produce dark red, round fruits from September. Its bark is grey and smooth. In a sunny to semi-shady, wind-protected location with well-drained soil, it usually reaches a height of around 20 metres and grows to a width of around 10 metres.
