The Pagoda dogwood (Cornus alternifolia) is a spreading, broad, large shrub that produces creamy white flowers arranged in umbrella clusters with a strong fragrance. They appear from May to June. They produce black, round fruits from August. They exude a strong fragrance. The Pagoda dogwood also has egg-shaped, dark green leaves. Its bark is dark grey. In a sunny to semi-shady location with well-drained, humus-rich, acidic soil, it usually reaches a height of around 6 metres and grows to a width of around 5 metres.
