Cornus alba 'Elegantissima'

White dogwood 'Elegantissima' is a bushy and upright growing shrub. It usually reaches a height of 2 - 3 m and is approx. 2 - 3 m wide. Rapidly growing. It usually grows 30 - 50 cm per year.

High leaf ornamental value. The deciduous leaves of the White dogwood 'Elegantissima's are dark green, ovate, opposite, with entire margins and a white edge. They are around 4 - 8 cm in size. White dogwood 'Elegantissima' turns bright carmine red in autumn.

Dark red bark makes this plant an eye-catcher in any garden.

The white flowers of White dogwood 'Elegantissima' appear in umbels from May to June.

The round fruits of Cornus alba 'Elegantissima' are particularly decorative.

Cornus alba 'Elegantissima' is a shallow-rooting plant and, depending on the soil, forms densely branched roots.

Preferred location in a sunny to semi-shady position.

The White dogwood 'Elegantissima' has good frost hardiness.

Normal soil.

Ornamental shrub

The plant needs plenty of water. Do not allow the soil to dry out.

To maintain the intensive bark colouring in winter, all shoots older than three years are removed in spring before budding. If the entire shrub is old and withered, it is best to cut it back completely 10 to 20 cm above the ground.

Container plants can be planted all year round, except when the soil is frozen and in summer heat (over 30°C).
