The Common broom (Cytisus scoparius) is an upright, branching shrub that produces yellow, butterfly-shaped flowers with a pleasant fragrance. They appear from May to June. They produce black, pod-shaped fruits from September. They exude a pleasant fragrance. The Common broom also has lanceolate, dark green leaves. In a sunny location with humusy, sandy, acidic soil, it usually reaches a height of around 2 metres and grows to around 2 metres wide.
