The Virginian witch hazel (Hamamelis virginiana) is a sprawling, funnel-shaped large shrub that produces pale yellow flowers with a light fragrance. They appear from October to November. These produce light brown fruits. They exude a light fragrance. The Virginian witch hazel also has egg-shaped, medium green leaves. Its bark is light brown and smooth. In a sunny to semi-shady location with well-drained, weakly acidic soil, it usually reaches a height of approx. 7 metres and grows to a width of approx. 6 metres.

Virginian witch hazel is a sprawling, funnel-shaped large shrub with a loose, translucent crown. It usually reaches a height of 3 - 7 m and is approx. 3 - 6 m wide. It usually grows 15 - 20 cm per year.
