Cytisus decumbens

Southern Europe.

Broom is a flat-growing dwarf shrub. It usually reaches a height of 15 - 20 cm and is approx. 40 - 60 cm wide. It usually grows 5 - 10 cm per year.

The deciduous leaves of the Brooms are dark green, lanceolate, alternate. They are about 1 - 2 cm in size.

Green bark makes this plant an eye-catcher in any garden.

The yellow, butterfly-shaped flowers appear from May to June.

Cytisus decumbens is a heartroot.

Preferred location in a sunny position.

The Broom has good frost hardiness.

Normal soil.

Heather garden, ground cover, undergrowth, small/front garden

Plant or parts of the plant are poisonous.

The plant has a medium water requirement.

Excess water must be able to drain away easily, waterlogging should be avoided at all costs.

Container plants can be planted all year round, except when the soil is frozen and in summer heat (over 30°C).
