The Common box (Buxus sempervirens) is a bushy, upright, dense shrub that produces greenish-yellow flowers. They appear from March to April. These produce green-brown fruits from August. The Common box also has shiny, leathery, egg-shaped, dark green leaves. In a sunny to shady location with well-drained, calcareous, nutrient-rich soil, it usually reaches a height of around 8 metres and is around 6 metres wide.

Growth

Common box is a bushy, upright and dense growing shrub. It usually reaches a height of 2 - 8 m and is approx. 2 - 6 m wide. It usually grows 10 - 20 cm per year.
