The Butterfly bush 'Royal Red' (Buddleja davidii) is an upright, loose, funnel-shaped shrub that produces purple-red flowers arranged in panicles with a strong fragrance. They appear from July to October. The Butterfly bush 'Royal Red' also has lanceolate, medium green leaves. Its bark is grey. In a sunny location with well-drained, loose soil, it usually reaches a height of around 3 metres and is around 2 metres wide.
