The Redvein enkianthus (Enkianthus campanulatus) is an upright, loose shrub that produces yellow-red, bell-shaped flowers. They appear from April to May. The Redvein enkianthus also has egg-shaped, medium-green leaves. In a semi-shady to shady location with humus-rich, lime-free, acidic, weakly acidic soil, it usually reaches a height of approx. 4 metres and grows to a width of approx. 3 metres.

The deciduous leaves of the Redvein enkianthus are medium green, ovate, alternate. They are about 3 - 7 cm in size. Redvein enkianthus turns bright orange-red in autumn.

Flower

The yellow-red, bell-shaped flowers appear from April to May.

Root

Enkianthus campanulatus is a shallow-rooting plant and, depending on the soil, forms finely branched roots.

Location

Preferred location in semi-shady to shady position.

Enkianthus campanulatus thrives on all acidic, humus-rich and sufficiently moist soils.
