The Sweet gum 'Slender Silhouette' (Liquidambar styraciflua) is a columnar tree with decorative, brown, round fruits that remain on the tree for a very long time. It produces yellow-green flowers arranged in spikes from March to April. The Sweet gum 'Slender Silhouette' also bears fingered, medium green leaves. In a sunny, sheltered location with lime-free, nutrient-rich, weakly acidic soil, it usually reaches a height of approx. 8 metres and grows to a width of approx. 1.5 metres.

The deciduous leaves of the Sweet gum 'Slender Silhouette's are medium green, fingered, alternate. They are about 12 - 15 cm tall. Sweet gum 'Slender Silhouette' is bright purple-red to red-orange in autumn.

Bark

Dark grey, corky bark makes this plant an eye-catcher in any garden.

Flower

The yellow-green flowers of the Sweet gum 'Slender Silhouette' appear in spikes from March to April.

Fruit

The brown, round fruits of Liquidambar styraciflua 'Slender Silhouette' are particularly decorative. These appear from September. Sticks for a very long time.
