The Amethyst Fescue 'Walberla' (Festuca amethystina) is a graceful, evergreen ornamental grass known for its compact growth and attractive foliage coloration. It forms dense, clump-forming tufts of fine, thread-like leaves. A special feature of this cultivar is the dark green blades whose tips turn a distinct red in late summer and autumn, providing a beautiful contrast. From June to July, delicate, reddish-brown flower spikes also emerge, gracefully hovering above the foliage. In a sunny location with dry, well-drained, and nutrient-poor soil, it typically reaches a height of approx. 0.2 - 0.45 m (foliage height approx. 20 cm) and grows to about 0.3 - 0.4 m wide.
