The Japanese snowball 'Mariesii' (Viburnum plicatum) is a spreading, broad shrub that produces creamy white flowers arranged in umbels with a strong fragrance. They appear from the end of May to June. These produce black-red fruits. They exude a strong fragrance. The Japanese snowball 'Mariesii' also has egg-shaped, medium green leaves. In a sunny to semi-shady location with humus-rich, nutrient-rich soil, it usually reaches a height of around 2 metres and grows to around 3 metres wide.

The deciduous leaves of the Japanese snowball 'Mariesii's are medium green, ovate, opposite, toothed. They are about 4 - 10 cm in size. Japanese snowball 'Mariesii' is bright burgundy to purple-purple in autumn.

Flower

The creamy white, double flowers of Japanese snowball 'Mariesii' appear in clusters from the end of May to June. These are strongly scented.

Root

Viburnum plicatum 'Mariesii' is a shallow-rooting plant.

Care

- A slow-release fertiliser can be used in spring. This releases the nutrients slowly and continuously so that the plant is evenly supplied over a longer period of time.
- Watering less frequently, but thoroughly and thoroughly, encourages the plant roots to penetrate deeper into the soil. This enables the plant to survive dry periods better.
