Elaeagnus pungens 'Maculata'

Silverthorn 'Maculata' is a bushy and upright growing shrub. It usually reaches a height of 1 - 2 m and is approx. 1 - 2 m wide. Slow growing. It usually grows 10 - 30 cm per year.

High leaf ornamental value.

The creamy white, funnel-shaped flowers appear from October to November. These are pleasantly fragrant.

The red-brown drupes have a tart flavour. The flesh of these oval drupes is juicy. Ripening time from April.

Spreading branches, close to the surface.

Preferred location in a sunny to semi-shady, wind-protected position.

The Silverthorn 'Maculata' has good frost hardiness.

Elaeagnus pungens 'Maculata' thrives on all acidic, humus-rich and sufficiently moist soils.

Screen, solitary, ornamental shrub

The plant has a medium water requirement.

If watered less frequently but thoroughly and thoroughly, the plant roots are encouraged to penetrate into deeper soil layers. This enables the plant to survive dry periods better.

Container plants can be planted all year round, except when the soil is frozen and in summer heat (over 30°C).
