The David viburnum (Viburnum davidii) is a small cushion-shaped shrub with decorative, dark blue, oval fruits. These exude a strong fragrance. In June, it produces light pink-coloured flowers arranged in clusters. The David viburnum also has leathery, lanceolate, dark green leaves. In a sunny to semi-shady, wind-protected location with well-drained, humus-rich, loamy soil, it usually reaches a height of approx. 80 cm and is approx. 1.6 m wide.

Growth

David viburnum is a small, cushion-shaped shrub. It usually reaches a height of 50 - 80 cm and is approx. 0.8 - 1.6 m wide.

High leaf ornamental value. The evergreen leaves of the David viburnums are dark green, lanceolate, leathery, opposite. They are about 7 - 15 cm tall.

Flower

The light pink flowers of the David viburnum appear in umbels in June. These are strongly scented.

Fruit

The dark blue, oval drupes of Viburnum davidii are particularly decorative. These appear from September.

Root

Viburnum davidii is a shallow-rooting plant.

Location

Preferred location in a sunny to semi-shady, wind-protected position.

The David viburnum has good frost hardiness.

Care

- A slow-release fertiliser can be used in spring. This releases the nutrients slowly and continuously so that the plant is evenly supplied over a longer period of time.
- Watering less frequently, but thoroughly and thoroughly, encourages the plant roots to penetrate deeper into the soil. This enables the plant to survive dry periods better.

Planting time

Container plants can be planted all year round, except when the soil is frozen and in summer heat (over 30°C).
