The Arrowwood (Viburnum carlesii) is a bushy, broad small shrub that produces white flowers arranged in umbels with a pleasant fragrance. They appear from April to May. They produce black, round fruits from July. They exude a pleasant fragrance. The Arrowwood also has hairy, egg-shaped, grey-green leaves. Its bark is dark brown and flaking. In a sunny to semi-shady, wind-protected location with well-drained, nutrient-rich, moist to wet, weakly acidic soil, it usually reaches a height of approx. 1.5 metres and grows to a width of approx. 1.5 metres.

Arrowwood is a bushy and broad-growing small shrub. It usually reaches a height of 1 - 1.5 m and is approx. 1 - 1.5 m wide. It usually grows 5 - 10 cm per year.

The deciduous leaves of the Arrowwoods are grey-green, ovate, hairy and opposite. They are about 6 - 10 cm in size. Arrowwood turns bright orange to red in autumn.

Bark

Dark brown, flaking bark makes this plant an eye-catcher in any garden.

Flower

The white flowers of Arrowwood appear in umbels from April to May. These are pleasantly fragrant.

Root

Viburnum carlesii is a shallow-rooting plant.

Preferred location in a sunny to semi-shady, wind-protected position.

Care
