The Burkwood viburnum (Viburnum x burkwoodii) is a broad, loose shrub that produces white flowers arranged in umbels with a strong fragrance. They appear from April to May. With the right care, the Burkwood viburnum will flower again in December. These produce black, round fruits from July. They exude a strong fragrance. The Burkwood viburnum also has shiny, egg-shaped, dark green leaves. In a sunny to semi-shady, wind-protected location with well-drained, nutrient-rich, weakly acidic soil, it usually reaches a height of approx. 3.5 metres and grows to a width of approx. 3.5 metres.

The wintergreen leaves of the Burkwood viburnums are dark green, ovate, glossy, opposite. They are about 4 - 7 cm in size. Burkwood viburnum is bright burgundy-red to yellow-orange in autumn.

Flower

The white flowers of Burkwood viburnum appear in umbels from April to May. These are strongly scented. With the right care, re-flowering in December.

Viburnum x burkwoodii is a shallow-rooting plant.
