The Japanese yew (Taxus cuspidata) is a shrub that grows densely branched and usually reaches a height of around 3.5 metres and a width of around 4 metres. Its needle-shaped leaves are dark green in colour. Decorative red cones adorn Taxus cuspidata from September. This shrub is well tolerant of frost and prefers well-drained, humus-rich soil in a sunny to semi-shady position.
