The Cowberry 'Koralle' (Vaccinium vitis-idaea) produces bright red, small berries. They have a tart, acidic flavour. Humus-rich, sandy, acidic, moist to wet soil and a sunny to semi-shady location create the ideal conditions for a high-yielding harvest from July. Its light pink flowers are a beautiful sight. With its dense growth, the Cowberry 'Koralle' grows to around 30 cm high and 30 cm wide, making it ideal for growing in pots on balconies or terraces.

Growth

Cowberry 'Koralle' is a densely growing dwarf shrub that can reach a height of 20 - 30 cm and a width of 20 - 30 cm. Slow growing.

The evergreen leaves of the Cowberry 'Koralle' are dark green, ovate, glossy, alternate.

Flower

The light pink-coloured flowers of Cowberry 'Koralle' appear in clusters from May to July. With proper care, re-flowering in August.

Fruit

The bright red, round berries of Vaccinium vitis-idaea 'Koralle' are particularly decorative. They appear from July and are small.

Root

Vaccinium vitis-idaea 'Koralle' is a shallow-rooted plant and, depending on the soil, forms stoloniferous, sparsely branched roots.

Location

Preferred location in a sunny to semi-shady position.
