The Common lilac 'Sensation' (Syringa vulgaris) is an upright, dense, loose, branched large shrub that produces purple-white flowers arranged in panicles with a pleasant fragrance. They appear from the beginning of May to the end of May. The Common lilac 'Sensation' also has heart-shaped, medium-green leaves. In a sunny to semi-shady location with humus-rich, nutrient-rich, sandy, loamy soil, it usually reaches a height of approx. 4 m and is approx. 1.8 m wide.

Leaves

The deciduous leaves of the Common lilac 'Sensation's are medium green, heart-shaped and opposite. They are about 5 - 12 cm in size. Common lilac 'Sensation' turns bright yellow in autumn.

Striped, torn bark.

Flower

The violet-white flowers of Common lilac 'Sensation' appear in panicles from the beginning of May to the end of May. They are pleasantly fragrant.

Root

Syringa vulgaris 'Sensation' is a taproot and, depending on the soil, forms runner-forming, strongly spreading roots.

Location

Preferred location in a sunny to semi-shady position.

Care
