The Elm 'Rebella' -S- RESISTA -R- (Ulmus) is a medium-sized tree with a loosely upright to broadly oval growth habit, offering a graceful appearance in landscape design. It produces inconspicuous flowers that appear from March to April. These later develop into brown, flat winged fruits. In addition, the Elm 'Rebella'® bears ovate, glossy, medium-green leaves that turn an attractive golden-yellow in autumn. In a sunny to semi-shady location with well-drained, loose, nutrient-rich, moist soil, it usually reaches a height of approximately 12 - 18 m and grows to about 8 - 12 m wide.

Leaf

The deciduous leaves of the Elm 'Rebella'® are medium-green, ovate, glossy, alternate, and doubly serrated. They are about 6 - 10 cm in size and display an attractive golden-yellow coloration in autumn.

Flower

The inconspicuous flowers appear from March to April.

Soil

Normal soil. It prefers a well-drained, fresh to moist, and nutrient-rich soil but is very tolerant of various soil types and also periods of drought or waterlogging.

Root

Ulmus 'Rebella'® is a heart-rooted tree that develops a strong and far-reaching root system, contributing to its good stability.

Frost hardiness

The Elm 'Rebella'® exhibits very good frost hardiness.

Planting time

Container plants can be planted all year round, except when the ground is frozen or during summer heat (above 30°C).

Care

A long-term fertilizer can be used in spring, which releases nutrients slowly and continuously. Formative pruning in its early years helps to develop the desired crown shape.

Location

Preferred location in a sunny to semi-shady position. This variety is known for its high adaptability to urban sites, including drier and compacted soils.

Use

Avenue and street tree, city tree, solitary tree, park tree. Due to its excellent resistance to Dutch Elm Disease and its robustness, it is an excellent choice for reforestation and new plantings in cities and parks. It is also used for greening squares and wide paths.

Water

The plant has a medium water requirement. After planting and during prolonged dry periods, additional watering is beneficial for growth and establishment.

Growth

Elm 'Rebella'® is a loosely upright to broadly oval growing tree with an open, yet dense crown. It usually reaches a height of 12 - 18 m and grows to about 8 - 12 m wide.
