The Resista-Elm 'Cathedral' (Ulmus) is a medium-sized tree with an upright and vase-shaped growth habit that develops into a broader crown with age. It produces inconspicuous flowers that appear from March to April. These later develop into brown, flat winged fruits. In addition, the Elm 'Cathedral'® bears ovate, medium-green leaves that turn an attractive yellow in autumn. In a sunny location with well-drained, loose, nutrient-rich, moist to wet soil, it usually reaches a height of approx. 15 - 20 m and grows to approx. 10 - 15 m wide.

Leaf

The deciduous leaves of the Resista-Elm 'Cathedral'® are medium-green, ovate, alternate, and doubly serrated. They are about 8 - 12 cm in size and show an attractive golden-yellow coloration in autumn.

Flower

The inconspicuous flowers appear from March to April.

Soil

Normal soil, which should be well-drained, loose, nutrient-rich, and moist to wet. It is also tolerant of various soil types.

Root

Ulmus 'Cathedral'® is a heart-rooted tree that develops a strong, far-reaching root system.

Frost hardiness

The Resista-Elm 'Cathedral'® exhibits very good frost hardiness.

Planting time

Container plants can be planted all year round, except when the ground is frozen or during summer heat (above 30°C).

Care

A long-term fertilizer can be used in spring. This releases nutrients slowly and continuously, ensuring that the plant is evenly supplied over a longer period. Regular training pruning in its early years promotes a good crown structure.

Location

Preferred location in a sunny to semi-shady position.

Use

Solitary tree, avenue and street tree, park tree, city tree. Its resistance to Dutch Elm Disease makes it an excellent choice for urban and landscape projects.

Water

The plant has a medium to high water requirement, especially during dry periods.

Growth

Resista-Elm 'Cathedral'® is an upright and vase-shaped growing medium-sized tree with a crown that broadens with age. It usually reaches a height of 15 - 20 m and grows to approx. 10 - 15 m wide.
