The Bridal wreath (Spiraea x vanhouttei) is a broad, overhanging shrub that produces white flowers arranged in umbels. They appear from May to June. The Bridal wreath also has egg-shaped, dark green leaves. Its bark is red-brown in colour. In a sunny to semi-shady location, it usually reaches a height of around 3 metres and grows to a width of around 3.5 metres. The Bridal wreath makes no special demands on the soil.

Growth

Bridal wreath is a broad and overhanging shrub. It usually reaches a height of 2 - 3 m and is approx. 2.5 - 3.5 m wide.

The shoots of Spiraea x vanhouttei are smooth.

The deciduous leaves of the Bridal wreath are dark green, ovate, alternate, lobed. They are about 2 - 3 cm in size. Bridal wreath turns bright yellow in autumn.

Red-brown bark makes this plant an eye-catcher in any garden.
