The Sour cherry 'Karneol'® (Prunus cerasus) produces dark red, medium-firm and juicy fruits. They are round and have a sweet-sour, refreshing flavour. Well-drained, nutrient-rich soil and a sunny to semi-shady location create the ideal conditions for a high-yielding harvest from July. Its pink-coloured flowers are a beautiful sight. The Sour cherry 'Karneol'® grows to a height of around 6 metres and a width of 5 metres.

Growth

Sour cherry 'Karneol'® is a spreading small tree that can reach a height of 4 - 6 metres and a width of 3.5 - 5 metres. It usually grows 40 - 60 cm per year.

Care

- Cut and saw wounds as well as broken branches should be treated with a wound sealant as soon as possible to prevent pathogens from entering the plant.
- Fruit trees planted in spring must be watered generously throughout the summer. Well-rooted plants only require additional water in extremely dry conditions.

Planting time

Container plants can be planted all year round, except when the soil is frozen and in summer heat (over 30°C).
