The Ebbinge's silverberry (Elaeagnus x ebbingei) is an upright, winter-green shrub with decorative, glossy, leathery, lanceolate, dark green leaves. It also bears creamy white, tubular flowers from September to November. In a semi-shady, wind-protected location with well-drained, weakly acidic soil, it usually reaches a height of around 3 metres and grows to a width of around 3 metres.

High foliage ornamental value. The wintergreen leaves of Ebbinge's silverberry are dark green, lanceolate, glossy, leathery, alternate. They are about 6 - 10 cm tall.

Bark

Copper-brown bark makes this plant an eye-catcher in any garden.

Flower

The creamy white, tubular flowers appear from September to November. These are strongly scented.

Location

Preferred location in partial shade, sheltered from the wind.

Frost hardiness

The Ebbinge's silverberry has good frost hardiness.

Care
